I was reading an article earlier about the fears some have out in Silicon Valley concerning whether or not they will become like the auto industry. The fear is that since a lot of overseas tech companies and govenrments have been investing heavily in science, math and technology, that these U.S. companies will be left behind. They're not asking for a bailout yet (or anywhere close), but these tech leaders are certainly thinking ahead. So as I think about MySamson and where we want to go, I think about where education will be in the next 5 years, 10 years, or even 12-18 months from now. President Obama talks a lot about investment in education, especially science and math. But will it be the same old, tired and worn out version of giving money to large districts and seeing very little results. So I recently changed from my trusted Blackberry and switched sides...I went to the IPhone. Kind of hard for me to believe because I have never been one of those Apple people...but now, here I go. Off to a world of I-tunes, Apps and all that the Apple world has to offer. While I was charging my IPhone, my 6 year old son came up to me and said, "Wow, you got an IPhone...let me show you how it works!" I couldn't believe it. I know kids advance faster than we do regarding technology, but to my knowledge, he had never been on an IPhone or even had seen it. However, I started watching him touch the screen and instinctively, he knew what to do and where to go. Education and the delivery of education needs to be more instinctive. Our children will learn more and be more engaged in f we figure out a way to do so.
